7 de Mayo

Due to the simultaneous occurrence of 5 de Mayo and the OSU broccoli study our 5 de Mayo fiesta was postponed until the 7 de Mayo. For 10 days prior to the 7 de Mayo, John and I had abstained from eating cruciferous vegetables, garlic, onion, spinach and other foods we don't eat anyway. 7 de Mayo was delicious! Lots of garlic, onions, guacamole, bean dip and not fried, fried ice cream (mmmmmmmm)! William and I made a pinata throughout the week and discovered on fiesta day that with candy in the pinata it was too heavy to hang so we gave the kids a football helmet and a baseball bat and let them whack at it on the floor! It worked and they had a great time. Thanks all for the good food and fun!
